This post will be full of pictures that you all probably don’t care about. I’m doing it for my own enjoyment and so when my dogs grow up they can look back at this post and remember what pesky dogs they were. Oh dogs can’t read? Or recognize their own pictures? Hmmm…I don’t believe you!
I probably tried for 30 minutes with the husband to get the dogs to sit in front of the Christmas tree for five seconds so I could take a picture. Did that happen? Of course not–we all knew the answer to that! Here are the out takes:

Already starting off great considering one of the “dogs” happens to be my husband.

Mom had to get involved and as you see it’s going great…I love how I’m pointing to under the tree like the dogs have any idea as to what’s going on.

Bribing with cheese popcorn…I mean I would pretty much do ANYTHING for cheese popcorn.
This is about as close as it got to BOTH being somewhat close to under the tree.

I decided to try a different take on things.

APPARENTLY the dogs have a problem with wreaths around their necks…
So I tried one last thing…

A simple snowman prop. A little tempting for both of them.
Out of about fifty pictures I got three decent (and I use the term decent very loosely) pictures:

This is Sadie’s best–sad I know.

Lexi’s best–which is actually sort of comical.
And the winner for best group shot?

Lexi looks confused, Sadie is SUPER happy (look at that toothy grin!) and Frosty down there is cautiously optimistic…
ARE KIDS REALLY EASIER THAN DOGS?! I could believe it after this fiasco!
Hi Everybody! I'm Angela. I love my dogs, adore my husband and try to make the best out of everyday!

Those are awesome! Can’t wait to see your finished Christmas card… are you creating it too?
Oh dear friend…you must have been exhausted. Where was Floyd? I bet he would have made the situation much easier! hehe. I’m blessed with a perfect dog who thinks she is a supermodel and enjoys pictures, but I won’t rub that in too much.
The group picture is hilarious. Frosty has no idea he’s about to get it.
Was it Sadie with the wreathe around her neck?! OMG that was way too funny.
I loved these photos, even the no-so-decent ones.
I have to finagle a husband, two boy children and a dog into a photo session soon. I’m not looking forward to it.
OMG I loved this post! it’s hysterical. I can only imagine how hard it was!
This was toooooo cute!!!!!!!! Was your husband looking opposite from the dog on purpose? And love the brick wall in the background!!!!
hahaha- you’re better than me- i could NEVER get my little jewel to sit still for a picture. she sees the camera and runs away like i’m going to beat her with it!
This is where photoshop would come in handy–just photoshop a santa hat on their heads and voila! Great group shot!
No kids are not easier then dogs. But I do think your dogs would give my kids a run for their money. I tried a gazillion times to get a video of them saying Merry Christmas. Umm… didn’t happen. Now I must slice and dice and use good parts of all the videos I took.
Aww! Well at least the photos show off their personality – HA!
those pics are great! last christmas i tried putting the wreaths around my dogs neck, and, well, yeah right. they tried to eat them
you deserve a good stiff drink after that. they were probably wondering what the heck their crazy mama was doing. little kids are just as hard. when my kids were little i would get about 10 bad pictures to the 1 that turned out. but when i look back at them now – i laugh – the ones i thought were bad are the best ones.
Those are some great pic’s. I tried taking the pup,/X-mas picture last week, turned out about the same way, there was alot of; Sit, Stay, Wait, Oh No’s going on. Love Lexie’s wreath!
I will tell you that most times taking pictures of kids can be a fiasco also. Mine actually cooperated very well this year for my Christmas card, but I have had some bad times with bunny ears over someone’s head or pouty faces, crying, etc. I like your pics, they are great. Thanks for visiting my blog regularly, sorry I don’t update more often, my chaotic single mom life. I will try to find a way to get a recording of me singing, it’s hard to do since I’m the photographer, but I will find a way. Hope your having a good holiday season. Hugs, Amy
I love all these pictures. And no kids are not easier than dogs…much harder.
Thanks for stopping by today and your nice comments.
Lex looks like she won the best dog in the Christmas show.
Sheesh your hubby looks like he’s 18!!! How come men get to stay young looking….or wait…maybe he is only 18! The dogs look beautiful. I can actually get mine to sit where ever I ask them too. They are very cooperative…so neener neener…(please be jealous and forget about the butt explosion when you read about how good my dogs are)
This is exactly the reason for Photoshop!
We tried getting pictures of our dogs one year before kids and it was hell. I will never do it again! Love the group shot!!!
Kids are only slightly easier than dogs to photograph. Bonus feature is that they too can be bribed with cheese popcorn. Except then you would get cheese popcorn on pretty holiday outfits.
I should share some of our attempts at Xmas card pictures with all our beasts!
hahaha wow that looked like some hard work! but yes, that last shot is SO CUTE. my dogs would have had the wreath in pieces within ten seconds flat.
I love that last one…I especially love how you mentioned the snowman was “cautiously optimistic”. Priceless.
At least you got those last three. Love the one with the wreath…too cute! I bet you were exhausted after all that!!!
Are you kidding me? I love ALL of these!
Sadie’s best is HI-larious! The look on her doggie face is priceless! Like she can’t believe you are torturing her with all this Christmas picture crap! ahahaha
Those are really cute! I love how happy Sadie looks in the group shot. Lexi is hilarious with the wreath around her neck. She looks like “why are they doing this to me?”
Very funny post.
OMG, those are awesome. Love the group shot.
Nope, kids aren’t much eaiser. At least mine isn’t. Taking a good picture requires them sitting still. Wee One’s not so big on the whole sitting still thing.
LOL…OMGosh you called your hubby a dog that was toooooo funny!
Loved the pix…your sss shipped today so your gift is on it’s way
LOL!! I love that the dogs will have all these to look back on some day. What a mom you are!
Adorable pictures – all of them!
Cute! And hilarious! I haven’t even tried to get my two together yet.
Awwww…I love Lexi in the wreath and the final Snowman pic!!! I feel your pain…I tried this with Lola on her first Xmas and I just kept getting pics of her hastily scampering away with various Xmas stockings, ornaments and antlers in her mouth
Couldn’t stop laughing!
This is a great reminder of Christmas picture past with my children. Maybe THIS is why I haven’t done the pictures yet…better get cracking!
HA! I like the last pix. so cute!
NO!!! Kids are NOT easier. They are either crying, picking their nose or looking at one another instead of the camera. Those pictures are GREAT!!!! I am so impressed! Just photoshop a tree in the background and it would be perfect. (Actually I have NO idea how to photoshop and if you can do that, but it sounded like I knew what I was talking about, huh?)
I know I bribe my little one with cheese popcorn all the time. I can’t believe they didn’t take direction from your husband’s poses. LOL I love that last picture and Sadie’s toothy grin!
I love it! I think the outtakes were a lot of fun.
How funny is that. I actually thought animals were easier. Of course kids get easier as they get older. But the dogs are absolutely cute!!!!!!!!
I totally get it. This is exactly what it’s like to try to get a good picture of a toddler…even worse if there is more than 1 kid and/or a family portrait. I’ve just about given up. This is why I haven’t even THOUGHT about a Christmas card yet….I don’t even want to try to get the ‘perfect’ photo! lol
Love the final group photo. SOOOO cute!
~melody~
I love the group shot! The outakes are pretty good too!
Yeah my dogs (and husband) are hard to train and have sit there. I haven’t even attempted the Christmas picture yet. looks like you had an entertaining night though!
The first one. Where your husband’s looking one way and your dog’s looking the other. Very artistic in its expression. You meant it to be like that. Right?
I just want to know what kind of Oklahoma sweater your husband is wearing. Is it a sooner’s, is it a cowboys, or is it something totally different?
Your successful three photos are BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Not that you pointing at the floor under the tree wasn’t…Just say’n!
That was about the scene at our house except instead of two dogs, only one and a baby….we were trying to set the timer, we got so desperate and my parents are out of town that we called Daniel to come over and take the picture. Its not a perfect pic, but it’s as good as it is going to get….dogs and kids, from my experience equally hard. I think I’ve told you but I’d be more then happy to come take your pic…and I won’t charge you anything either.
