Today is vet day for the dogs. I say that grimly because it is my Hell on Earth to take the dogs to the vet. Let’s just say, one time, Lexi actually pooped on the floor she was so nervous. My favorite part of that story was as I was going to clean it up and a nurse ran out like she had just pooped gold and told me not to touch it and they could use it…but I digress…This morning was no different, there was tugging on the leashes, whining, panting–but no pooping (I’ll take the small victories I guess!). On top of all of this the top-notch Oklahoma weather men who said there would be a 10% chance of rain WHILE IT WAS RAINING mis-forcasted as usual. To make a long, pointless story short, it poured while we were dropping the dogs off but as we were walking out the vets door not a drop coming from the sky.
So yesterday morning I was awakened by this tragic whimpering from the floor. Just imagine a child sighing over and over again with an “I’m so bored” inbetween. I looked at the clock and it was around 4:45am. I tried to remain as still as possible as to not awaken the beast anymore than she was already awake…apparently the shift of my foot under the covers meant that I was ready to get up. This “whimpering” turned into an all out whine and I’m pretty sure if I had the ability to pick Lexi up her back would have bowed and she would have been crying at a decible that only, well I guess only her and Sadie could hear. I got up and took care of the dogs and as is typical the husband laid in bed and pretended to be asleep…jerk.
Let’s start with a little introduction:
This is Sadie, a chocolate lab mix, she’s spastic and we’re pretty sure she’s not all there.
This is Lexi, a Shar-pei, pit bull, lab mix, she’s goofy and what some may call “a little overweight-” but she doesn’t let it define her.
